It ain't over until we say it's over

The Mets played a different style on Thursday -- more little ball -- and they executed some bunts. We obviously didn’t play every bunt perfectly clean, and we gave them more opportunities. You give any lineup extra outs and you’re asking for trouble. We even got out of some jams or it could have been a whole lot uglier. So even though they scored, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.Lowe275_2

When you’re playing good teams like this with so much on the line -- and especially on the road -- you have to play close to a perfect game, and when you don’t, you get the results we’ve gotten the past two games.

But this series isn’t over. I was part of the team that did it in 1999 with Boston. We lost the first two games to Oakland, then we won the next three.

The way you’ve got to look at it is that we just need to go on a three-game win streak, and we’ve won three games in a row before this season. We’re also going home now, and there’s always an advantage to playing at home. And we have great pitching. Any team would take their chance with Greg Maddux on the mound.

I just hope we get off to a big lead in Game 3 on Saturday. Today, we didn’t have a lead at all. In Game 1, we had a one-run lead and I gave up a couple runs. But if we get off to a good lead -- I mean with multiple runs, and get the home crowd behind us -- we can gain some momentum.

Big D, we've got faith in the you guys. Lets turn this shizzy around and get the media to stop talkin about game one's second inning double play. And please take that smile of the opposing teams face on Saturday. They act like they've already advanced. We're pulling for you, Brotha.

Thanks for updating your blog, Derek. I know you guys can pull off winning three straight. I have tickets to both games this weekend and I hope to cheer you all back to NY for game 5.

Dodger Stadium is going to go off this weekend - we're taking this to game 5 baby.

GO DODGERS

thanks lowe, because we do believe, all of us who watch every game after game, took in that losing streak in stride and looked for that silver lining, cheered and jumped to that amazing 17-1 record. We are the DODGERS!!!! We will not go slowly into the night, I was there when we scored 4 home runs in a row, i saw the Nomar homerun past over my head as he ran around the bases. I BELIEVE WE BELIEVE, we can do this, others teams have done it in the past, it can be done, we all know that, so lets do it, the Mets think they have had it easy, Well they are coming to Los Angeles, and trust me Lowe and every Dodger player, there will be truly 10 players on that field this weekend, because every Dodger jersey wearing, blue wig holding, painted blue and white, foam finger waving, rally towel swining, fan will be there in full support, and for me you will see me in section 305 row P in full dodger uniform GO DODGERS

I got news for you, it is over.

News flash, if it's over then why are the Mets on a plane to LA? I hope the Mets players have the same arrogant attitude as their fans...

DLowe, hang in there man, I know you guys can do this. We'll be there for you this weekend, because we believe, we bleed that blue. Just make sure you guys go get those uniforms dirty and sweaty, that's all I ask for.

I BELIEVE. Everyone said we couldn't beat the "Mighty Mets" in 88 and we all know what happened. May all the "Mickey Hatchers" on the 2006 team pick us up like he did in 88.

I Believe...Dodgers will knock Trachsel around and than we will be back in the series. All the Mets did was hold serve, now its our turn. Go Blue

D. Lowe… keep your head up high!! I have faith and I believe the Dodgers will make it far this postseason. Yeah, I know we lost two in row, but WE are the Dodgers and the Dodgers fight back hard. See you boys at Saturday’s game!!! I BELIEVE!!!

Thanks Derek for the pick me up !! We have a game to play on Saturday and I for one BELIEVE IN THE MAD DOG !!!

Stay ready Derek becasue we want you in there for game 5 !!

Go Dodgers !!!

D. Lowe, Man its been a tough season to watch but i have to say i wouldn' have traded any of those hours watching you guys play this season for nothing!! Us true Dodger fans know that the Dodgers are never out of it. It's gonna be tough but i know we can do it and i have no problem taking it back to NY for Game 5 and having you out there on the mound. I have faith, we have faith and even if we dont come out on top i know that this is only the begining of something great to come. Thank you guys for all the great things you guys have shown us here this year.

GO DODGERS!!! we coming NY!!

Stand Up and Cheer on Saturday!

Be Loud!!

Bring in your rally towells!!

Let's rock Dodger Stadium!!!

I believe in the magic of OLOCR (Our Lady of Chavez Ravine)!!!

I will be rooting for our boys in Blue in the TOP DECK!!!!

GO DODGERS!!!!!

Emma

You guys won 17 out of 18 with the help of an 11 game winning streak, you guys do another 11 game winning streak you can call yourself champions. Go out there and show the Mets that the Dodgers belong in the playoffs.

D-Lowe,

As a mets fan I gotta say, you guys have put up a heck of a fight. I think game 1 was the deciding game, we were pretty much on the ropes before the first pitch was thrown with the devistating news about our two pitchers. Letting us have that game might have been the turning point, we realized we can do it even without those two. You've had a heck of a season and I've always been a fan. Don't be too hard on yourself about game 1, it wasn't your fault at all.

To the Dodgers fans:

I was at the game last night and shea was ROCKIN. I'm sure you dodgers fans will give a fair showing but can I just say...

na na na na

na na na na

hey hey hey

good bye

""I was at the game last night and shea was ROCKIN. I'm sure you dodgers fans will give a fair showing but can I just say...
na na na na

na na na na

hey hey hey

good bye""

I was there in '88 when the Dodgers beat you like baby harp seals, and I'll be there again tomorrow when the clubbing begins again.

Ciao!

The first thing we have to do besides getting good pitching is be sure Furcal and Lofton get on base..Without them on base we rarely win...Let's go Dodgers...and the Beimel injury has really hurt us...no matter how he did it..especially in this series.

D-L,

You saying that the Mets played "small ball" makes me think of some of the childish comments on your blog. Sounds like some of the Mets fans are playing "small brain". Oh well. We can't control the tinyminded.

However, I wouldn't trade this season for anything and I have you and your teammates to thank for a truly memorable season! No matter the outcome of Saturday and (the Big Blue in the sky) Sunday, I will never forget this year. The amazing games, the children, the veterans, the Vegas Saviours, Nomar's plate dance, Maddux's stirrups, the Dugout Club's beef brisket sandwiches...

Thanks for the blog and I hope to see you soon!

We may have SOME good starting pitchers, but our bullpen has become a dumping ground for starting pitchers who have failed (i.e. Tomko, Hendrickson, Sele). The bullpen has been unreliable, which is only evident with Little's decision to put Brad Penny in relief the other night. I do not doubt the heart of this young team, but what I saw last night was demoralizing. The biggest shock to me was seeing Furcal and Lofton hanging their heads in what seems to be shame because of their struggles at the plate. I was born a Dodger fan and I will forever have faith in our boys, but after seeing a defeated team last night, I want to lose hope in this team's ability to reach the World Series.

Big D

You're right. It's not over yet. And now that the team is coming home, things are gonna turn around! I cannot wait for the first pitch on Saturday. I've never given up on my favorite team. I AM A DODGER FAN FOR LIFE!! I have the utmost faith in you guys to turn it around and bring the "BIG" trophy back to LA! YEAH! GO BIG BLUE! LOVIN' YOU GUYS!

DL-

I have been a Dodger fan all of my life...or at least for the past 41 years of it that I can remember. Having lived in MN now for the past 7 years...it has been an exciting year all the way around (it was great to be able to see you guys play in the Twin Cities...no matter what the results were)! I remember the last time we played the Mets in the playoffs--we were written off then, too...but like you said, "It ain't over until we say it's over!" GO DODGER BLUE! You guys rock!!!

DLowe

Please Give this to Grady... Please Sit Lugo and give Ramon a Chance... It can't be worse!! I had enough of Lugo Playing w/his Jersey @ Home Plate already!!

Reasons why I think the Blue Crew still has a legitimate shot to win this series…

A. Grady Little was the last manager down 0-2 in a division series that came back. (Red Sox over the A’s in 2003) He’s not hitting the panic button just yet, you just have to take one inning at a time Saturday…

B. Steve Traschel got rocked this year by the Dodgers. LA scored 7 earned runs on him at Shea Stadium. Maddux is very capable of topping Glavine’s vintage performance.

C. Oliver Perez was cut by Jim Tracy and the Pirates cuz he ****** really bad. The Dodgers are more than capable of feasting off this lefty early and hopefully the Met’s bullpen will get in early Saturday night, tiring them for the rest of the series, giving Willie Randolph less options for Sunday/Monday. Penny’s gotta show up on Sunday and throw 7 strong innings, he’s over due for a mega performance. (just like he beat the Yankees twice in the 2003 World Series)

D. Game 5…..I know you will shine D’ Lowe. (4 days rest should be plenty) We all know you won all 3 clinching series games for the Red Sox in 2004) I sure hope you stayed in NY to get plenty of rest because it makes no sense for you to come to LA this weekend to be a cheerleader. We already have Major League Baseball’s most expensive cheerleader in Gagne. I love Gagne, hope he gives us a hometown discount next year to stay but unfortunately that’s what his role is throughout this post season.

Go Dodgers!

D-Lowe,
I was hoping you could help us out and maybe squirt a little "visine" into Lofton's and Lugo's water a la "Wedding Crashers". That way they won't be able to leave the clubhouse for game 3 and give the Mets 2 more automatic outs in our line-up. Please D-Lowe, our playoff lives are on the line here. It's either that, or try and find Tonya Harding to go 2x4 on their shins....and if its not to much trouble pour a little in Grady's glass too. That way we have all our angles covered. Thnx!

Derek,
You're one of my favorite players. Good luck in the playoffs, my man.

DLowe,

Make sure to take that to the bench on Saturday and get the rest of the Blue Crew on their feet. Your dodger die-hard fans will be doing the same in the stands.

We gotta shut them down early and run hard. Remind your teammates that this is the playoffs. Next chance someone gets, they need to knock LoDuca on his butt when going home.

THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS BABY, DO or DIE, PUMP IT UP!!!

Yesterday was dificult to watch, but its over. Its time to move ahead. You're in L.A. now, and your most diehard of fans will be in attendance on Saturday. To all those that will be at Dodger Stadium... BE LOUD!! Go BLUE!! GO DODGERS!!!!

I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE SO MUCH, go DODGERS we can do this.

As a 20 year old in Southern California, I have to worry about making rent on time with a P.O.S. job. Yet the only thing that matters to me now is games 3,4, and 5.

I'm torn Lowe, You and Grady Little did pull out from an 0-2 deficit with The Sox, but deep in my skull 1 and 11 Playoff record is killing me. Please, for the love of god tell me there isn't a Kirk Gibson curse...

But the drama, oh how I freakin' love it. This game, and this team. Go out Saturday and pound the **** outta them with small ball. Drive 'em crazy with one base hit after another. I LIVE FOR THIS!!! LET'S GO DODGERS!!!

There are two things I love more than my own life.

My Fiancee

... and Dodger Baseball.

Never lose faith and never lose face. It doesn't matter how talented, lucky, or more experienced you are if you don't have faith in yourself then you won't succeed.

I believe in the Dodgers, I believe that the players as well as the fans have an enormous spirit that will allow the Dodgers to defeat any opposing team. Never give up because remember that we, your fans, will never give up. We made it here when everyone else thought we were out of the running and look where we are now. I am 21 going to Boston University; Lowe I was there when the Red Sox won the world series. I saw the passion of the fans, and I know Dodgers fans have the same passion for the game. I will be here, all the way across the country, cheering for my team when they win on saturday, sunday, and when they go to the World Series.

The Dodgers are going to win, you know why? Because we are L.A. and no one can destroy our spirit! We are the Dodgers and we are going to show the Mets what we're made of! Faith, hope, ambition, and a radiating energy that can never be suppressed.

Dodgers, put on your game face because it is time to play some ball.

Derek Lowe-
Dodgers fans, Dodgers players its time to show New Yorkers and East coast how the Dodgers play baseball. The Dodgers play fundamentally sound and we are home in Los Angeles and ready to show the country how this team battles adversity and we will be victorious but most of all lets show them how we love the game. I have grown up in the Bay Area a Dodger fan from the day I was born and will always be a Dodger fan. i wont be at the game but to all Dodger fans, I better hear "Beat the Mets" like '88 and "h

Here we go Dodgers, Here we go!"

By Monday night I will chanting sweep! Yes thats right the Dodgers win 3 in a row and do the unthinkable. Yes the country doesn't think we can do it but has the country seen the Dodgers play 162 games. 40-19 means something to me!
